Warm and balmy Friday

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) –
.
This Evening
Once again it’s been mostly cloudy around Middle Georgia through the afternoon as well as quite warm. Temperatures today have topped off a few degrees cooler than yesterday, however. Overnight will be even warmer than the last though as lows will largely be in the mid to upper 50s. A few spots could stay above 60 degrees. The wind will be light from the south-southeast at around 5 mph so fog will be possible though the night, especially during the sunrise hours tomorrow. Overhead skies should be partly cloudy.
Tomorrow
A healthy mix of sun and clouds is likely to end the work week as temperatures climb into the upper 70s around the region. A few spots may eclipse the 80 degree mark. The wind will be out of the south/south-southwest throughout the afternoon with gusts pushing as high as 20 mph. During the later parts of the afternoon/evening a shower or two will be possible.
Overnight is likely to be overcast with temperatures only dipping into the low to mid 60s. The wind will remain out of the south at 5-12 mph with gusts still pushing as high as 20 mph. A few showers will also be possible, especially for the northwestern counties of the region.
Saturday and Beyond
The cold front will pass through Georgia Saturday, likely arriving in Middle Georgia during the mid-late afternoon. The line of storms should be weakening as it enters the region, however the amount of heat and moisture in the area should be able to sustain some intensity for a bit. A Level 1 “Marginal” threat for severe storms currently includes the northwestern 2/3 of the region for Saturday. The primary threat is a few damaging wind gusts, however the odds for a spin-up tornado are not quite zero (however they are very slim, possibly less so even than last weekend).
Once the front passes the wind will shift directions from the southwest to the northwest (this will be overnight Saturday into Sunday) as the cold air behind the front begins to move in. Expect a blustery afternoon Sunday where the actual high for the day is right after midnight Saturday night (low-mid 60s) with relative highs in the mid to upper 50s likely Sunday afternoon. The cold wind will drive temperatures down into the mid to upper 20s ahead of Monday morning. Middle Georgians may want to drip their faucets overnight Sunday.
