MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Officers with the Milledgeville Police Department arrested 30-year-old Dajuan Nikil McCormick on multiple outstanding warrants and new theft charges Tuesday afternoon after a foot chase.

According to a post on the Milledgeville Police Department Facebook page, officers responded to a call reporting a theft in the Riverview subdivision. After speaking with the complainant and several neighbors, an officer found McCormick hiding in a crawl space under a house.

Police said officers gave verbal commands for McCormick to come out. As he exited, he tried to run but was tased and taken into custody.

Officers are investigating several other thefts in which McCormick is considered a suspect, according to the department.

“We would like to thank the public for their assistance in this case,” the post said.

The arrest comes days after a manhunt in the Carrington Woods area. Around 5 a.m. on April 1, officers were dispatched to Glenhaven Drive after reports of a man running through yards. Although officers searched the area, they did not locate the suspect.

Later that morning, around 10 a.m., officers responded to Dunlap Road and Pebbleridge Road after a report of a man jumping from a vehicle. Investigators learned the vehicle belonged to a resident of Glenhaven Drive and that the woman did not realize someone had been hiding in her back seat until the man jumped out and ran.

Around 4 p.m. that same day, officers were called to Timberlane Road for a report of an entering auto. Investigators recovered a pink towel and a pair of pants believed to belong to the suspect. At that time, the man was believed to be wearing red gym shorts, with no shirt and no shoes.

McCormick was later identified as the suspect involved in those incidents.

“We would like to thank the public for their assistance in this case,” the post said.

McCormick was one of five suspects wanted by Macon Regional Crimestoppers this week in connection with crimes across Middle Georgia.
