Wade McCord defeats C. Jack Ellis to retain tax commissioner position

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The race for the tax commissioner was up for grabs tonight, with interim office holder Wade McCord going up against former Macon mayor C. Jack Ellis.

After the final tally, McCord will remain in the position with the victory.  He says he will focus on saving the tax payers as much time and money as possible.

“If we can help them not having to come to our office, or help them to pay some other way to where they don’t have to take off work, they don’t have to take off time with their family, that’s what we want to do,” McCord said. “We’ve got great customer service and we’re going to continue that. We do it for Bibb County, we do it for the tax payers and that’s what it’s about.”

McCord won with  61% of the vote and 13,542 total votes.  Ellis finished with 8,765 total votes for 39% of the vote.
