Veterans Day celebration at American Legion Post Three

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Today is Veterans Day and Americans across the country are celebrating our service men and women.

Here in Middle Georgia, American Legion Post Three in Macon is bringing veterans together for a free meal, and to help them never feel forgotten.

They are doing that through their first annual “Each one, Feed one” program.

Macaroni and cheese, ham, chicken, greens, and deserts were served this year.

“Fifty veterans were served today and the plan is to continue this program next year,” Post Commander Jim Cooper said.

Veterans Day first started with honoring the brave men and women who fought in world war one.

It’s held every year on November 11.

But, today this holiday is observed for all veterans who served in every branch of the military.
