Veteran Baldwin County Volunteer Firefighter laid to rest

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Baldwin County officials, friends and family members gathered at Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Milledgeville to say goodbye to Charles Johnson.

Johnson died Tuesday at age 81.

He was a retired carpenter who loved gardening, and in the early 70’s he was one of the founders of the East Baldwin County Volunteer Fire Department.

“We will miss him but on the other hand we know he’s gone to a different fire station in the sky and he’ll be on that department watching over us along with Jesus from heaven,” says Baldwin County Fire Chief, Troy Reynolds.

Johnson was buried in Black Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

He leaves behind his wife- Lillian “ lee” McCullar Johnson, his son  C. Wayne Johnson, his daughter Tonya “Angel” Johnson and a host of other relatives and friends.
