Vandals steal American flag from Hispanic restaurant in Macon

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Five flags used to fly above La Delicia restaurant on Pio Nono Avenue in Macon.

After a robbery Thursday night, now there are only four.

“When we got here our American flag was down, it just made us feel like they were trying to say we’re not American enough to have a flag,” Ana Reyes said. She is the manager.

Her family opened the Hispanic restaurant three weeks ago.

“We put the flags up here kind of to bring unity,” Reyes said.

The restaurant plans on putting up a new American flag, that’s even bigger, in its place.

“People might try to bring our spirit down, but it’s not going to bring us down,” Reyes said.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case. 41NBC will continue to follow this story.
