Macon-Bibb commission selects Valerie Wynn as mayor pro tem
Wynn was selected by a 5-3 vote during Tuesday’s commission meeting.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Macon-Bibb County Commission voted Tuesday to select District 1 Commissioner Valerie Wynn as the new mayor pro tem.
Wynn replaces Seth Clark as mayor pro tem following Clark’s resignation from the commission on Monday.
District 6 Commissioner Raymond Wilder nominated Wynn for the position. District 8 Commissioner Donice Bryant nominated District 2 Commissioner Paul Bronson.
Macon-Bibb County Mayor Lester Miller said the initial verbal vote appeared to be 5-3, then called for a roll call vote, which also passed 5-3. Mayor Miller then announced Wynn as mayor pro tem.
The mayor pro tem serves as a temporary replacement for the mayor when the mayor is absent or if the office becomes vacant.
Commissioners did not discuss Clark’s resignation during the meeting. Clark has made no additional public statements since announcing his resignation Monday.
Because more than 12 months remain in his term, the Macon-Bibb Charter requires a special election to fill the vacancy. The Board of Commissioners must now pass a resolution calling for that election. Until a new representative is elected and sworn in, District 5 will remain without a direct representative on the commission.
