UPDATE: Peach County Woman Runs for Congressional Seat

PEACH COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Vivian L. Childs announced her plans to run for Sanford Bishop’s 2nd Congressional District seat.

Childs also shared information on her intentions to move the community forward. She focused on strengthening agriculture sites and the military base in Middle Georgia.

Her campaign plan states she is, “one of a very few African-American women in Georgia who has chosen to run as a Republican.”

“I may be unique in once the election is over, whoever you elect is to serve everyone, not just a party line, not a race, not a religion, and so, I would be more than adequate to do that,” says Childs.

The event was held at the Welcome Center at the Peach Outlet Mall located at 311 Georgia Hwy 49 North in Byron at 1:00 p.m.

Childs added she is not running against Bishop.
