Update: Overturned FedEx truck delays traffic on I-75

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A tractor trailer wrecked near exit 183 on I-75 in Monroe County.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and Monroe County Fire and EMS responded to the accident.

Authorities tells 41NBC the semi-truck was hauling two trailers. According to the driver, the back trailer got loose and he started losing control. He tried to regain control, locked his brakes, and hit a median wall.

The truck was destroyed and packages spilled across several lanes of the interstate.

Monroe County Fire and EMS says there are no fatalities. The sheriff’s officer says a passenger in the semi-truck was sent to a the hospital for treatment.

According to the sheriff’s office, the Georgia Department of Transportation is in charge of the clean up efforts.

Traffic moved slowly while the scene was cleared.
