UPDATE: Hit-and-run suspect taken into custody in Monroe County

Deputies say the suspect ran from the scene.

UPDATE (4/16/26): Monroe County deputies say Jermaine Dillard was taken into custody near Mt. Airy Baptist Church Cemetery on Highway 83 N.

MONROE COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Deputies are searching for a man who ran after a hit-and-run in Monroe County Wednesday night. Deputies have not disclosed details about the hit-and-run.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies are searching the area near Highway 83 and Highway 87 for Jermaine Dillard.

Dillard is described was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, black pants and a black durag. Deputies say he was not wearing shoes.
