UPDATE (9/3/24): Douglas Lawson, a man reported missing over the weekend in Monroe County, has been found dead.

“Unfortunately, it was not the outcome that we had hoped for as he was found deceased,” the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook Tuesday. “His death is currently under investigation.”

“Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers,” Tuesday’s post concluded.

MONROE COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help finding a man who went missing last week.

According to a sheriff’s office Facebook post, 66-year-old Douglas Lawson was last seen on Friday, August 30, being dropped off at Larry’s Bait and Tackle near High Falls Lake.

Deputies say he’s 5’4″ and weighs 145 pounds. He’s not considered to be a danger to others, but does have a history of mental health and physical health issues, according to deputies.
