UPDATE: Man arrested after killing aunt, deputies say

The Taylor County Sheriff's Office says the GBI has stepped in to assist with the case.

UPDATE: The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has identified the woman shot and killed early Friday morning as 60-year-old Angela Montgomery of Butler.

The GBI says she was found dead inside a home.

UPDATE: A man is in custody after calling 911 to report that he’d shot his aunt, according to the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office.

In a news release, the sheriff’s office says that 25-year-old Zadarious Montgomery made the call around 1:15 a.m. from a home on Roberta Highway.

The woman has died from her injuries and Montgomery is charged with felony murder.

BUTLER, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A person is dead and another is in custody after an early morning shooting, according to the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the shooting at roughly 1:30 a.m. on Roberta Highway. The sheriff’s office says it is investigating the Georgia Bureau of Investigation has stepped in to assist.

The sheriff’s office has not yet released the identity of the suspect or the victim.
