UPDATE: Fourth arrest made in connection with death of 25-year-old Cortavius Ates
The Bibb County Sheriff's Office makes a fourth arrest in connection with the death of Cortavius Hassan Ates on February 10.

UPDATE (3/20): A fourth person is now in custody in connection with the death of Cortavius Hassan Ates on February 10.
According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, 19-year-old Frederick Hill Jr. was arrested just before 10 a.m. Wednesday after the successful execution of a search and an arrest warrant at a home in the 2200 block of Gray Highway.
He’s now being held at the Bibb County Jail. He’s charged with murder, aggravated assault and participation in criminal street gang activity. He’s being held without bond.
UPDATE (3/6): The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office makes a third in arrest in connection with the death of Cortavius Hassan Ates on February 10.
A sheriff’s office news release says the sheriff’s office gang unit, drug unit and criminal investigations division took 19-year-old Shamar Tyrell Stewart of Macon into custody after a search and arrest warrant were executed at a home in the 400 block of Forest Hill Road.
Stewart is charged with murder, aggravated assault and participation in criminal street gang activity. He’s being held without bond.
UPDATE (2/15): Bibb County deputies have made a second arrest in connection with the death of Cortavius Ates.
A Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release says 29-year-old Marion Antonio Curry of Macon was wanted in Bibb County for aggravated assault. He was also identified as a person of interest in connection with Ates’ death.
Deputies say he was taken into custody at a home in the 2300 block of Ollie Drive during the execution of a search warrant.
He’s charged with murder, aggravated assault and criminal street gang activity. He’s being held without bond.
UPDATE (2/15): The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says a man is in custody in connection with the death of Cortavius Ates.
The Sheriff’s Office Gang Unit, Strategic Intelligence Unit, Drug Unit, Special Response Team and the Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office arrested 30-year-old Kendarrious Rayshun Cone.
Cone was wanted in Bibb County for conspiracy to distribute marijuana and was also identified a person of interest in Ates’ death.
He was taken into custody in Twiggs County before being transported back to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Headquarters. After further investigation, Cone was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
He’s charged with murder and aggravated assault, along with conspiracy to distribute marijuana. He’s being held without bond.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death that happened near the intersection of Jeffersonville Road and Roseview Drive on Saturday.
The Macon-Bibb E-911 Center received a call at 4:47 p.m. reporting shots fired in the area.
Deputies responded to the scene and discovered a 25-year old man, later identified as Cortavius Hassan Ates, unresponsive with a gunshot wound.
Ates was pronounced dead on the scene by Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley.
His family has been notified.
