UPDATE: 1:20 p.m. – Dodge County Schools says the soft lockdown has been lifted.

UPDATE: 1 p.m. – Sheriff Brian Robinson said in an interview with WUFF-AM that the incident has come to a peaceful resolution, and the suspect is in custody. He says charges are pending. Sheriff Robinson says there is a victim at the hospital. Roads will re-open after the crime scene has been processed.
UPDATE: 12:30 p.m. – Sheriff Brian Robinson says they’ve been on and off the phone with the armed man who is barricaded in a home near downtown Eastman for the past several hours, in an interview with WUFF-FM. Sheriff Robinson told WUFF that a SWAT team is currently briefing and considering next steps. He added that he hopes it comes to a peaceful resolution, and he wants to keep everyone safe. He says they’re concerned because emotions are “all over the place” with this young man.
UPDATE: 12 p.m. – An armed man is barricaded inside a home in Eastman, according to Dodge County Sheriff Brian Robinson. In an interview with WUFF-FM just before 12 p.m., Sheriff Robinson said negotiations are still active, and a SWAT/special response team (SRT) is en route from a nearby community in case they need to approach the house. Robinson also said schools will remain on lockdown until the situation is resolved. He urged people to stay away from the area of 10th Avenue and Pine Street near downtown Eastman.

EASTMAN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Dodge County schools were placed on a soft lockdown Wednesday morning.
According to officials, the lockdown is based on a recommendation from the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office. Officials say the lockdown is due to an outside factor that does not involve the schools. Eastman Police posted on Facebook that someone was barricaded in town.
There is currently no immediate danger on the campuses. District officials say they will continue to keep parents informed and updated.
