UPDATE: Deputies identify Ocmulgee River drowning victim
The Bibb County Sheriff's Office identified the drowning victim as 26-year-old Daniel Romain of New Jersey.

UPDATE (7/30/24) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office identified the drowning victim as 26-year-old Daniel Romain of New Jersey.
UPDATE (7/29/24) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says members of the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department Dive Team and Georgia Department of Natural Resources located the body just before 5:30.
According to a news release, the man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
UPDATE (7/29/24) – Macon-Bibb Coroner Leon Jones says the body of a person who drowned on Sunday was found in the river Monday between the I-75/I-16 split and Spring Street.
Jones says the body was found around 5:20 p.m. He says he doesn’t know the person’s identity yet.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a possible drowning at Amerson River Park on Sunday afternoon, according to a media release.
According to witnesses, a 26-year-old male was swimming in the Ocmulgee River.Witnesses say the male went under and did not return above water.
The Macon Bibb E-911 Center was called at 12:54 p.m. and emergency personnel searched for the man on scene.
The dive teams stopped the search at around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. The search will continue Monday morning.
The name of the male will not be released at this time. The incident is currently under investigation.
