UPDATE (3/25/25): Crews have recovered the body of a man whose boat was found capsized and floating in Lake Sinclair on Monday.
According to an update from Baldwin County Fire Rescue, the body was recovered on Tuesday after a search that started Monday night.
When reached by phone, Baldwin County Coroner John Gonzalez confirmed a body had been found but did not immediately provide the man’s identity, citing an ongoing investigation.
Chief Deputy Coroner Stephen Chapple later identified the man as 36-year-old Chester Upton.
“We are grateful to have brought closure to the family,” Baldwin County Fire Rescue’s post stated. “Please keep the family in your prayers.”

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Multiple agencies launched a search and rescue operation Monday night after a boat was found capsized and floating in Lake Sinclair, according to a post on Facebook by Baldwin County Fire Rescue.
The department said a 26-year-old man is missing, and crews are working to locate him. The post, shared just after 6:30, said Baldwin County Fire, the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, the Baldwin County Public Safety Dive Team, Georgia DNR and boats from Milledgeville Fire Department are all involved in the operation.
“Dive Team and sonar boats are working tirelessly to find this missing person,” the post stated. “Prayers are being extended to the family.”
