UPDATE: Bibb deputies say man who escaped from downtown Macon hospital is back in custody

According to the sheriff’s office, patrol deputies and investigators took him into custody in the area of Madison and Walnut Streets just before 7 p.m.

He was taken to the Bibb County Jail.


ORIGINAL STORY (6:38 p.m.):

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s needs your help finding a wanted person who escaped from custody Monday.

According to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release, 34-year-old Drickis Keon McCree escaped from custody at Atrium Health Navicent just after 4 p.m. He was last seen in the area of Monroe Street at Fifth Avenue. Deputies are still actively trying to locate him.

Deputies say he was taken into custody on Saturday, March 22 on charges of felony theft by shoplifting and obstruction of a law enforcement officer at Walmart on Gray Highway. McCree is also wanted on charges of failure to register as a sex offender and violation of probation for a previous conviction of aggravated assault with attempted rape.

“McCree is believe to be a danger,” the release said. “He is known to have violent tendencies.”

He’s about 5’5″ and weighs about 185 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a black tank top, black pants, black socks and white shoes.
