UPDATE: Inmates face charges after hot water attack in Bibb County Jail
Deputies say Skylar Luke Hill and Wali Cooke face aggravated assault and battery charges after a fellow inmate was burned with hot water.

UPDATE (4/29/25 – 4:45 p.m.): Bibb County deputies say investigators have identified the two inmates involved in an aggravated assault against 21-year-old Romario Justin Casey inside the Bibb County Jail earlier this month.
According to a news release, 18-year-old Skylar Luke Hill and 20-year-old Wali Cooke have both been charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery.
Deputies say Cooke was being held in the jail on charges of armed robbery, hijacking a motor vehicle and three counts of aggravated assault.
Hill was being held in the jail on charges of aggravated assault, possession of contraband, willful obstruction of law enforcement officer and escape.
UPDATE (4/22/25 – 3:50 p.m.): The 21-year-old inmate who reported being assaulted at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center earlier this month has been released from the hospital, according to an update from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Romario Justin Casey received medical attention for his injuries and will now receive ongoing care from Correct Health medical staff at the jail, the sheriff’s office said in a statement Tuesday afternoon.
Bibb County Jail records show Casey was arrested on April 6 and charged with two counts of terroristic threats and acts.
ORIGINAL STORY (4/22/25 – 12 p.m.):
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation after an inmate reported being assaulted at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center earlier this month.
According to investigators, a 21-year-old male inmate told deputies on April 19 that he was injured on April 15 when other inmates threw hot water onto his face through a cell door. The inmate initially hid his injuries during routine block checks and did not report the incident when it occurred.
Deputies later escorted the inmate to the facility’s medical unit for evaluation. He was later taken to a hospital for further treatment and is currently listed in stable condition.
Investigators are working to identify the individuals involved in the assault. No charges have been announced at this time.
The sheriff’s office said more information will be released as the investigation progresses.
