Arrangements have been announced for Sheriff Cullen Talton, who died Saturday at the age of 92.

UPDATE (10/21/24): Arrangements have been announced for Sheriff Cullen Talton, who died Saturday at the age of 92.
Sheriff Talton will lie in state on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.
Afterward, an escort for Sheriff Talton, followed by a procession, will take place at 3 p.m. from McCullough Funeral Home to Southside Baptist Church. The route will pass by the Sheriff H. Cullen Talton Jr. Building on Carl Vinson Parkway. To show respect for Sheriff Talton, the community is invited to line the roadsides on Carl Vinson Parkway during the escort from Leverette Road to Russell Parkway.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church in Warner Robins. The funeral service honoring and celebrating Sheriff Talton’s life will follow on Wednesday, October 23 at 11 a.m. at Southside Baptist Church.
Honoring the Talton family’s wishes, Sheriff Talton will be laid to rest privately at Bonaire Cemetery.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – America’s longest serving sheriff, Cullen Talton, has died at the age of 92.
Houston County Sheriff Talton died on Saturday morning at his home.
Houston County Captain Matt Moulton released the following statement on October 19:
“We are deeply saddened to announce that Sheriff H. Cullen Talton, Jr. passed away peacefully this morning at his home. Information regarding funeral services will be provided at a later date. Please keep Sheriff Talton’s family in your thoughts and prayers.”
Governor Brian Kemp released the following statement on X (formerly known as Twitter):
“Marty, the girls, and I are saddened by the passing of America’s longest serving Sheriff, Houston County Sheriff Cullen Talton. For nearly 52 years, Sheriff Talton remained committed to serving and protecting the people of his community and became a beloved fixture of Georgia law enforcement. We will keep the Talton family, the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, and all those made better by his public service in our prayers during this time.”
Warner Robins Mayor LaRhonda Patrick released the following statement on Facebook:
“Over the past three years, it has been a privilege to work alongside the legend and longest serving sheriff in our country’s history, Sheriff Cullen Talton. His commitment to the safety and well-being of Houston County has been unwavering, and his leadership has left an indelible mark on our community. Sheriff Talton’s legacy of service, integrity, and dedication will be deeply missed by all of us who had the honor of working alongside him. We are grateful for his years of steadfast leadership and the positive impact he’s made on countless lives. I was honored to have an opportunity to get to know him and learn from him.”
Houston County recognized Talton for his 50 years of service last year.
“My people in Houston County I love, and I’ve always appreciated trying to treat them like I’d like to be treated myself,” he said in September 2023.
