UPDATE: Caretakers charged in death of Jones County child
Deputies say despite knowing of the child's death, neither individual contacted law enforcement or requested medical assistance until Thursday evening.

UPDATE: (10/2/26); Investigators have determined that Reva Ogles and George Togeg, who were the child’s caretakers, were aware that the child had died on Tuesday, according to the Jones County Sheriff’s Office.
They say despite knowing of the child’s death, neither individual contacted law enforcement or requested medical assistance until Thursday evening.
As a result, Ogles and Togeg were arrested at the scene and initially charged with Concealing a Death.
The Sheriff’s Office says following further investigation, they’re now charged with Cruelty to Children in the First Degree.
The investigation remains ongoing. Deputies say the cause and manner of the child’s death remain pending the results of an autopsy, and additional charges may be added as the investigation continues and additional information becomes available.
Ogles and Togeg are currently being held at the Jones County Jail.
The Jones County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the suspects are not the child’s biological parents, but are the primary caretakers.
