MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – United Way of Central Georgia is inviting residents to dine out for a cause by partnering with local businesses to raise money for families experiencing homelessness.

The United Way of Central Georgia announced “United We Dine for Brookdale,” a communitywide fundraiser that will take place May 14, 2026. The event will bring together restaurants, coffee shops, sweet shops, food trucks and other local businesses across its 19-county service area.

Philip Swicegood, director of communications for United Way of Central Georgia, says a portion of each participating vendor’s proceeds from the day will be donated to the Brookdale Resource Center, which serves families, individuals and children experiencing homelessness.

United We Dine for Brookdale is a full-day event encouraging residents to enjoy a meal at participating establishments. Funds raised will support the Brookdale Resource Center’s services, which are designed to help individuals and families move toward long-term financial stability.

The Brookdale Resource Center provides resources and wraparound support to help unhoused individuals and families find pathways to stability.

Restaurants and vendors across the region are invited to participate by pledging a portion of their total daily sales, with many contributing 15% or more. In return, participating businesses will receive promotion through United Way’s newsletter, website and social media platforms, along with inclusion in media outreach.

Community members can take part by dining at participating locations throughout the day, with each purchase helping fund services for those in need.

Participants are also encouraged to share their experience on social media by tagging @UnitedWayCG and using the hashtag #UnitedWeDineForBrookdale.

Restaurants and vendors interested in joining the event can download a sign-up form at unitedwaycg.org/UnitedWeDineForBrookdale. A list of participating locations will be posted on the website as businesses are confirmed.
