GEICO raises more than $1 million for United Way
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The United Way of Central Georgia has named GEICO as its top charitable contributor for the 12th year in a row.
The total raised by the insurance company came to precisely $1,101,195, all of it raised during the 2015 fundraising campaign.
“Each year, we try to do more for the community,” said John Rhea, CEO of Robins Financial and a co-chair for the United Way. “So much of what we do is dependent of the community. It’s something the United Way couldn’t accomplish without the support of companies like GEICO.”
The United Way provides health and human services to more than 300,000 people in 14 Middle Georgia counties.
“For the third straight year the GEICO United Way campaign has exceeded $1 million,” said President and CEO of United Way of Central Georgia George McCanless in a news release. “A clear demonstration of the commitment their management and staff hold to help improve the lives across Central Georgia.”
The United Way is an organization that helps individuals on a global scale with taxes, medicine, insurance, and education.
GEICO’s Macon office has supported the United Way for more than 25 years.
