Macon teens arrested for stealing truck, burglarizing home

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two Macon teens are accused of stealing a truck and breaking into a home Saturday afternoon.

Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about a stolen car at O’Reilly’s Auto Parts on Pio Nono Avenue around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, according to a news release from the department.

The victim told deputies his 1988 Chevrolet pick-up was in the parking lot of the auto parts store. He left the keys in the car, according to Bibb investigators. The victim saw two boys get into his car. He tried to stop them, but they drove off.

Deputies found the truck a few minutes later in the parking lot of a church on Newburg Avenue. The two teens were arrested shortly after near the Advanced Auto Parts Store on Pio Nono Avenue.

Bibb investigators believe the two suspects burglarized a home on Heard Avenue earlier that day. The victim came home, saw the suspects and was able to get a picture of them before they ran away, as stated in the news release.

The victim of the burglary gave the picture to the deputy. Witnesses also placed the two teens at the scene

Both suspects are juveniles. One is 14-years-old. The other is 15. Both are charged with theft by taking and burglary. They are being held at the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center.
