Two Bibb deputies arrested, fired after violating oath of office
Investigators said an inmate gave 27-year-old DeAngelo Dixon the phone number of a woman. Dixon met her at a local hotel and paid for oral sex. He’s charged with solicitation of sodomy and violation of oath of office. Officials said Dixon was a deputy in the corrections division of the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center and was employed for about three years.
38-year-old Rogers Zellner was also a deputy in the corrections department at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. Investigators said someone paid him to take a cell phone to an inmate. He’s charged with trading with inmates without the consent of the warden or superintendent. Officials said Zellner worked at the sheriff’s office for about four years.
Bibb Sheriff David Davis fired both deputies Monday.
“It is a shame that these men decided to violate the oath they swore to uphold. Fortunately, the dedicated and capable investigators from our office and the DA’s office made sure these wrongdoers were identified and arrested,” Davis said in a statement.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office explained Dixon and Zellner had been suspended with pay since September when the sheriff’s office and the district attorney’s office investigated these claims. A sheriff’s office internal affairs investigation identified the policies violated.
