Twins read to twins

BYRON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)-  Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a twin? Well, twins, Marilyn Erbentraut and Carolyn Rath have the answer to that question in their new book, “I Am A Twin! Me Too!”

The twin authors visited Byron Elementary School Wednesday afternoon to share their story with nineteen twin and triplets.

“Well, I always thought that when we retired, we’re both retired that this was something we wanted to do,” said Rath. “Is write about how special we think it is to be twins.”

The book was published in June. Erbentraut and Rath decided to visit Byron Elementary because Rath used to teach there. Erbentraut joined her sister for the reading from Wisconsin.

Both retired teachers, they wanted the book to be educational, as well as something other twins could relate to.

“We hope that when children read the book that they can identify, with whether they’re an identical twin or a fraternal twin and what makes them so special,” said Rath.

The book discusses the similarities and differences between identical and fraternal twins. There are also vocabulary words used in the book that are identified and defined for younger children. The book also has pages where pictures of twins in the family can be added.

“We can associate with them because we know what they’re going through,” Rath said.

The sisters donated a copy of their book to the library for students to check out. The school also bought books for every twin and triplet to have of their own.
