Motorcyclist killed in Twiggs County crash Friday morning

The crash involved happened near Highway 57 and Taylor Woods Road.

UPDATE: Georgia State Patrol says a trooper was dispatched to the crash at 6:37 a.m. on Georgia Highway 57 near Taylor Woods Road. According to GSP, the motorcycle was traveling west when it left the roadway onto the north shoulder, struck a ditch and then several small trees and bushes. Troopers said a school bus driver found the crash site after noticing illuminated taillights in the woods.

GSP said the exact time of the crash remains unknown. The rider was pronounced dead at the scene.

JEFFERSONVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A man in his 40s was killed in a motorcycle crash Friday morning in Twiggs County, according to the Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office.

Chief Deputy Leonard Long said the sheriff’s office received the call about the crash around 6:30 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 57 and Taylor Woods Road. Deputies arrived and found a motorcycle and the deceased rider off the roadway, Long said.

According to Long, the motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the crash. The identity of the man has not been released.

Long said the Georgia State Patrol is handling the investigation.
