TUCKER’S PICK ‘EM 2015: College football picks and previews for Week 10

  • All times Eastern
  • College Football Playoff rankings
  • Record last week: 7-2
  • Record this year: 61-19

No. 20 Mississippi State (6-2, 2-2 SEC) @ Missouri (4-4, 1-4 SEC)
Thursday, November 5 at 9 p.m. ESPN
Mississippi State is on a three-game winning streak. Missouri is on a three-game losing streak.

The Tigers haven’t been able to score, but their defense has kept them in games:

Mississippi State 17, Missouri 13

Actual Score: Mississippi State 31, Missouri 13 (WIN)

Vanderbilt (3-5, 1-3 SEC) @ No. 10 Florida (7-1, 5-1 SEC)
Saturday, November 7 at 12 p.m. ESPN
Florida has all but wrapped up its first SEC East title since Tim Tebow was there.

All it has to do is get by the division’s fifth and seventh place teams:

Florida 21, Vanderbilt 7

Actual Score: Florida 9, Vanderbilt 7 (WIN)

Kentucky (4-4, 2-4 SEC) @ Georgia (5-3, 3-3 SEC)
Saturday, November 7 at 12 p.m. SEC NETWORK
Things aren’t great in Athens, but it’s even worse in Lexington.

The Wildcats have given up 94 points in their last two games:

Georgia 38, Kentucky 21

Actual Score: Georgia 27, Kentucky 3 (WIN)

Albany State (5-3, 5-1 SIAC) vs. Fort Valley State (5-3, 5-0 SIAC)
Saturday, November 7 at 2 p.m.
The winner of the 26th annual Fountain City Classic in Columbus will take the SIAC East Division crown.

This could be the most entertaining meeting in series history:

Fort Valley State 24, Albany State 23

Actual Score; Albany State 21, Fort Valley State 17 (LOSS)

No. 16 Florida State (7-1, 5-1 ACC) @ No. 1 Clemson (8-0, 5-0 ACC)
Saturday, November 7 at 3:30 p.m. ABC
I’m shocked Clemson is a 12-point favorite.

The Seminoles proved last week they can be successful even without all of their weapons, beating Syracuse 45-21 without their starting quarterback, running back nor two offensive lineman.

I’ll still roll with the Tigers, who’ve been explosive on offense, but I have a hard time believing they win by two touchdowns:

Clemson 28, Florida State 23

Actual Score: Clemson 23, Florida State 13 (WIN)

Arkansas (4-4, 2-2 SEC) @ No. 18 Ole Miss (7-2, 4-1 SEC)
Saturday, November 7 at 3:30 p.m. CBS *SEC NATION
Ole Miss is still alive in the hunt for the SEC West title but will likely need to go undefeated the rest of the way to win it.

The Rebels have won two straight after an embarrassing loss to Memphis, but they looked rusty in a narrow win at Auburn last week.

After another close one here, they’ll prepare for the LSU Tigers:

Ole Miss 31, Arkansas 21

Actual Score: Arkansas 53, Ole Miss 52 – OT (LOSS)

Chattanooga (7-1, 5-0 SoCon) @ Mercer (3-5, 0-4 SoCon)
Saturday, November 7 at 4 p.m. ESPN3
Mercer’s four conference losses have come by a combined 13 points.

Throw in a seven-point loss to non-conference foe Tennessee Tech, and it’s easy to see how this season has been one full of frustration.

With the unofficial SoCon championship game looming next week against The Citadel, will Chattanooga fall short in Macon? We’ll find out soon enough:

Chattanooga 31, Mercer 24

Actual Score: Mercer 17, Chattanooga 14 (LOSS)

No. 8 TCU (8-0, 5-0 Big 12) @ No. 14 Oklahoma State (8-0, 5-0 Big 12)
Saturday, November 7 at 3:30 p.m. FOX
As former NASCAR crew chief Larry McReynolds says before each green flag, it’s time to “pull those belts tight one more time!”

Another high-scoring Big 12 matchup will end in a Horned Frogs win:

TCU 43, Oklahoma State 36

Actual Score: Oklahoma State 49, TCU 29 (LOSS)

South Carolina (3-5, 1-5 SEC) @ Tennessee (4-4, 2-3 SEC)
Saturday, November 7 at 4 p.m. SEC NETWORK
South Carolina followed up a win over Vanderbilt with a 35-28 loss at Texas A&M.

The Gamecocks actually seem better since Steve Spurrier left, but they’ll need to win three of their final four games to become bowl eligible.

That’s not good, considering they still have Florida and Clemson on their schedule:

Tennessee 33, South Carolina 20

Actual Score: Tennessee 27, South Carolina 24 (WIN)

Auburn (4-4, 1-4 SEC) @ No. 19 Texas A&M (6-2, 3-2 SEC)
Saturday, November 7 at 7:30 p.m. SEC NETWORK
Auburn-Texas A&M will be this week’s “oh yeah, that game’s on.”

The Tigers simply won’t be able to keep up, especially if play calling in the red zone doesn’t improve:

Texas A&M 38, Auburn 27

Actual Score: Auburn 26, Texas A&M 10 (LOSS)

No. 2 LSU (7-0, 4-0 SEC) @ No. 4 Alabama (7-1, 4-1 SEC)
Saturday, November 7 at 8 p.m. CBS *College GameDay
Both teams are inside the top 10 heading into this game for the seventh time since 2005.

We haven’t seen LSU in a position where Leonard Fournette is shut down.

That will change Saturday:

Alabama 34, LSU 21

Actual Score: Alabama 30, LSU 16 (WIN)
