Trump’s Jerusalem Plan Draws Criticism
(NBC News) President Trump is expected to make an announcement Wednesday hat could anger Arab countries and throw a wrench in the quest for Mideast peace.
Fulfilling a campaign promise, Mr. Trump is expected to announce the United States will recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capitol and eventually move the U.S. embassy there from Tel Aviv.
Palestinians also consider Jerusalem their capital.
The plan has drawn international condemnation.
Pope Francis and Jordan’s King Abdullah have urged the president to reconsider.
“It will be a grave mistake. Grave mistake. It will not bring any stability, peace but rather chaos to the region,” says Turkish Prime Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.
