Tree Knocks Out Power for Hundreds of Perry Residents Thursday Evening

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — As many as 750 people were without power Thursday evening after a tree fell on a power line near Publix on Perry Parkway.

According to a spokesperson for Flint Energies, Marian McLemore, the tree likely fell because of wind or loose ground from the heavy rainfall that dumped on Middle Georgia over the past few days.

The tree fell a few minutes after 6 p.m., and as of 7:45 p.m., about half of the residents had their power back. McLemore says crews were able to recircuit power from another source for those customers.

Crews are worked to get the tree off the line, and McLemore said as of 9 p.m., all power was restored.
