Tips to prep for next tax season

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The deadline to file your 2015 taxes is quickly approaching. Professional organizer Andi Willis shares some simple ways you can start prepping for next tax season.

The three tips will help you be a little more prepared for next tax year. It can help you organize your paper and receipts throughout the year.

The first method is use have a file that you keep in your filing cabinet marked “taxes” and the tax year. Keep your receipts in that file throughout the year and when it is time to do your taxes everything is in one place.

You can also use an accordion folder with multiple files so you can label each one with a month. Willis says this method could be good for business owners or if you need to keep up with different bills. At the end of the year once your taxes are done, you can then put the whole folder in your filing cabinet.

If you have a lot of receipts, Willis suggests using manilla folders and labeling them with a month. Then put all of your receipts in the corresponding folder and then in your filing cabinet.
