Three men arrested in Macon man’s shooting death near Savannah

HINESVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Three men are facing murder charges in the shooting death of a Macon man that happened last week in the Savannah area.

Over the weekend, the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office arrested Julous Mathenia, James Stumps, and Derrick Harvey. All three men are charged with criminal attempt to commit a felony and murder. They are booked in the Liberty County jail without bond.

Authorities say Markese Mahone of Macon was found dead in the Day’s Inn parking lot in Flemington Friday around midnight. He died from a gun shot wound to his left shoulder.

Investigators say Mahone was the victim of an attempted robbery. He was living in the hotel with his girlfriend for about two weeks.
