Three local schools receive honor from Governor Nathan Deal

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Three Middle Georgia schools are receiving the Highest Performing or Greatest Gains school awards.

Springdale Elementary School in Macon, Houston County High School in Warner Robins, and Byron Middle School in Byron made the list.

The awards from the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement is part of Georgia’s Single Statewide Accountability System.

Governor Nathan Deal says it is given to schools who have exceeded expectations in preparing their students.

In a news release GOSA says, Highest Performing schools must earn a three-year average College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) Achievement Score that ranks in at least the 93rd percentile. Greatest Gains schools must earn a three-year average CCRPI Progress Score that ranks in at least the 93rd percentile.

Schools are ranked on a Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze tier.

A total of 226 Georgia public schools made the list which GOSA says is an increase of 8 schools compared to last year.
