Third round of Downtown Challenge grants awarded for special projects
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – More money for downtown Macon, means more to look forward to. Twenty-three Downtown Challenge grants were awarded for special projects in Macon.
It’s all part of the “Macon Action Plan”, which is dedicated to improve Macon’s urban core. Murals, car shows, and several other activities around will be funded by the grants. Community Foundation of Central Georgia, Kathryn Dennis says the goal is to have a vibrant downtown where people can meet.
“We have people living in downtown and we have citizens from all over the region coming down for events and also we have people out walking and biking,” said Dennis.
This is the third round of grants given out by The Community Foundation of Central Georgia. More than $430,000 were awarded tonight out of $3 million. They plan to give out more grants in September. To apply for a grant visit DowntownChallengeMacon.com.
