The End Zone Week 8: Mary Persons visits unbeaten Peach County in our Game of the Week

41NBC will also cover a matchup between unbeaten Taylor County and Macon County on Friday, plus four more Middle Georgia games.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Unbeaten Peach County hosts Mary Persons on Friday, October 2, in The End Zone’s Week 8 Game of the Week as 41NBC brings viewers highlights from six Middle Georgia football games.

Sports anchor Rob Schiff and chief meteorologist Aaron Lowery will be live at Trojan Stadium during 41NBC News at 5, 5:30 and 6 p.m.

During 41NBC News at 11, Bill Shanks will have highlights from the studio. Tucker Sargent will join him with highlights of East Laurens at ACE, and Rob will report back from Mary Persons at Peach County.

The show will also feature the Lineman of the Week, Band of the Week and scores from around Middle Georgia.

Game of the Week: Mary Persons at Peach County

Peach County brings a 5-0 record into Friday’s Region 2-4A matchup after having last week off. Head coach Marquis Westbrook’s Trojans are averaging 52 points per game while allowing 18.

Mary Persons enters 3-2 after a 24-21 loss to Troup County. Brian Nelson’s Bulldogs will try to hand Peach County its first loss in the teams’ first meeting since 2023.

Mary Persons won that matchup 13-7.

Taylor County at Macon County

Two unbeaten teams meet at Bulldogs Stadium as Macon County opens its Region 6-A schedule against Taylor County.

The Vikings are ranked third in Class A by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, while the Bulldogs are fifth.

Taylor County beat Chattahoochee County 64-6 last week. Jess Devoursney’s Vikings are averaging 44.2 points per game and allowing 12.6.

Macon County enters 4-0 under head coach Spoon Risper, averaging 39 points and allowing 6.5. The Bulldogs have won 11 straight against Taylor County, including a 21-19 victory last season.

FPD at John Milledge

John Milledge looks to remain unbeaten when FPD visits Trojan Field.

JT Wall’s Trojans are 6-0, had last week off and are allowing nine points per game.

FPD enters 4-3 after consecutive losses, including a 20-12 loss to Stratford last week. Brett Collier’s Vikings will try to reverse last season’s result against John Milledge, which won 34-17.

Tift County at Houston County

Houston County opens its Region 1-6A schedule against Tift County at Freedom Field.

Jeremy Edwards’ Bears are 2-2 and had last week off after losing two straight games. The average score in those two games was 67-59.

Tift County enters 3-2 overall and 0-1 in region play following a 35-14 loss to Coffee.

Houston County won last season’s meeting 57-14.

Locust Grove at Warner Robins

Warner Robins will try to keep its offense rolling when Locust Grove visits McConnell-Talbert Stadium.

Shane Sams’ Demons are 4-2 overall and 2-0 in Region 2-5A. They have scored 124 points during a two-game winning streak, including last week’s 55-0 victory over Eagle’s Landing.

Locust Grove enters 1-5 overall and 0-2 in region play.

East Laurens at ACE

ACE looks to improve to 6-0 when East Laurens visits Perkins Field.

Keith Hatcher’s Gryphons opened Region 2-2A play with a 17-7 win over Vidalia last week and are averaging 32.4 points per game.

East Laurens enters 1-4 overall and 0-1 in the region after losing 42-13 to Swainsboro.

The Falcons won last season’s matchup against ACE 28-14.
