The Drugstore Deli is the Most Memorable Place in Byron
For more than 100 years, the building·on the corner of Main Street and Heritage Boulevard has sat as a staple in historic Byron.
“I was a teenager then,” says Lillian Williams, customer.
She’s referring to her photograph on the wall of the Drugstore Deli. When she sees herself as young girl, the picture reminds her that without the store, her life would be a whole lot different.
“Oh I met my husband here, he used to come, he was a friend of one of the drugists.”
That’s one reason Miss Sara Jo McClean chose to turn the store into her own restaurant. She’s bringing Byron’s history to the present.
