The Crazy Bull Brings Country Music to Downtown Macon

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Polish off your boots and get ready to dosey doe on the dance floor! Macon’s newest venue is bringing country music to downtown. 41NBC caught up with the owner who hopes you will take a ride on “the crazy bull.”

“We felt there was a need for a country bar in downtown,” Ricky Hill, owner of The Crazy Bull, said.

That’s why Hill bought the historic building off Second Street two years ago. You can’t tell by looking at it now, but it has taken a lot of work to get the bar into shape.

“It had been sitting for 10 to 12 years,” Hill said. “A lot of the structure and everything that was in here was just demolished. It was rotten.”

Everything from the bricks to the wood for the bars came from the original building.

“It’s been a fun project…to see it all come where we started, basically from dirt inside an old 1885 building to where it is today.”

But Hill is not done yet! You can head downstairs for a second hot spot: The Brick House at The Crazy Bull.

“It will be a Monday through Thursday venue, smaller venue,” Hill said.

Or up to the third floor for the future VIP section. It looks more like a construction zone now, but Hill has big plans for up there.

“It will also overlook onto the main bar.”

Hill expects crowds to fill up the place Fridays and Saturdays for live entertainment.

“To bring in new talent, old talent, beginning talent,” Hill said. “We’ll have a vast array of different things that we’ll be able to have here, not just country.”

Main Street Macon Manager Mechel McKinley adds this venue ties in well with the city’s plan to revitalize downtown.

“It’s filling in a gap that we had in terms of entertainment, it’s saving an historic building, and its providing us with a new entertainment venue,” McKinley said.

Hill is happy to be a part of downtown’s growing future.

“I think the ball has actually started rolling in a great direction,” he said.

Hill hopes to have the all three levels completed by mid next year. Once the entire venue is built, he says he will have invested more than a million dollars into the project.
