Telfair Elementary School honors 9/11 victims, first responders on Patriot Day
Students, teachers, parents and public servants gathered at Telfair Elementary School to reflect on the Sept. 11 attacks and honor first responders.
MCRAE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Students, teachers, parents and public servants gathered at Telfair Elementary School on Friday to observe Patriot Day and honor the memory of September 11th, 2001.
The school’s annual program featured reflections on the events of 9/11 and tributes to first responders. Principal Anthony McIver addressed attendees, saying he hopes students would leave with a deeper appreciation for resilience, unity and the significance of remembering history.
“I hope that they understand how this country came together, worked together,” he said. “They also understand that they have to take a leadership role as they grow older to lead our country and community.”
The event aimed to foster a sense of community and encourage students to carry forward the lessons of compassion and service.
Patriot Day, observed each year on September 11, serves as a National Day of Remembrance for those lost in the 2001 terrorist attacks and a tribute to the spirit of the American people.
