Taylor County tax assessor and husband arrested for elderly abuse
BUTLER, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Investigators with the GBI arrested Taylor County Tax Assessor Charlyn Lemons and her husband Jeffrey Lemons.
According to a news release, the couple financial abused a 70-year-old that stayed with them in July 2015.
An investigation revealed that the Lemons had the victim sign personal checks to benefit them. The couple also has the victim co-sign for an ATV, buy a mobile home.
A relative of the elderly victim complained to the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office about the Lemons’ actions. The relative moved the victim out of state and noticed her debit card was being used multiple times in Georgia.
Investigators found that $40,000 had been misappropriated.
The Lemons are charged with theft by taking, financial transaction card fraud, financial transaction card theft, financial identity fraud, false documents and writings, and exploitation of an elder person.
