Suspect caught after hitting Bibb deputy’s patrol vehicle
Just after 4:30 A.M. Tuesday, Bibb Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call at Cherry Tree Hills Apartments, on Old Clinton Road in regards to loud music coming from a vehicle. When they arrived, the vehicle fled the scene and deputies lost sight of the suspect before locating him again on Shurling Drive. While attempting to stop the vehicle, the driver rammed a deputy’s patrol car on Williams Street East. The driver attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended.
The suspect has been identified as 26 year old Jamal Chris Rowe of Macon. He is being charged with Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer, Fleeing and Eluding a Peace Officer, and Theft by Receiving a Stolen Auto. He also had a warrant for his arrest for Larceny.
The deputy that was struck by the suspect was not injured in the incident.
