Super-heros take over Washington Memorial Library

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Super-heroes, including Batman and his trusty side-kick, Robin the Boy Wonder, took over the Washington Memorial Library Saturday.

Children were dressed in super-hero costumes for the Super-Fan Festival which featured, a super-hero in training camp with Captain Underpants, a scavenger hunt, a balloon artist and face painting.

There were activities for all ages during the summer reading celebration. Teenagers got a chance to meet authors, and activities stations were set up on all three floors of the library.  The director of the Middle Georgia Regional Library, Jennifer Lautzenheiser, says the purpose of the event was to allow children to live out their dreams through reading. “We do this to celebrate our kids and focus on literacy and learning and retaining all of our lessons from the previous year,” says Lautzenheiser.
