Suntrust Bank Foundation Awards Boys and Girls Club of Central Georgia $10,000

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Tuesday was a a great day for the Boys and Girls Club of Central Georgia.

The organization received a $10,000 dollar check from the Suntrust Bank Foundation.

Suntrust awarded the Boys and Girls Club for helping children in the community through ‘Project Learn’.

It’s a program that turns the concepts kids learn in school into fun activities.

“A great example would be with our stem program working with basketball. We all know if you’ve ever played basketball, there’s a certain arch or trajectory that’s going to make that shot happen but a lot of the kids don’t realize how much math is involved with that,” Lisa McClendon with the Boys and Girls Club of Central Georgia explained.

She says the program has been very successful. Over the last few years, 100% of high school seniors participating have graduated and gone on to college or enlisted in the military.
