Sunshine returns to kickoff October

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – October begins Wednesday and sunnier conditions will return to Middle Georgia.
This Evening
It’s been another cloudy day across Middle Georgia resulting in a lot of high temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. The wind has again been pronounced from the northeast as gusts have hovered around 20 mph. A couple of small showers remain possible through the evening hours however overall odds are very low. Some clearing in the clouds is expected after midnight tonight. Lows will be in the low to mid 60s across the region as the northeasterly winds continue at around 5 mph. Gusts could still reach to around 15 mph, however.
Tomorrow
The first day of October will be quite pleasant around Middle Georgia as highs should reach the low to mid 80s under partly sunny skies. Wind will flow from the northeast at 5-12 mph with gusts again ranging anywhere from 15-25 mph. While there should be a good amount of sun early even more is expected over the latter half of the day.
Overnight will be clear with lows expected to hover around 60 degrees. Wind will continue from the northeast at 5-10 mph as gusts range to around 15 mph.
Thursday and Beyond
Fully sunny conditions are likely Thursday as highs will largely stay below the 80 degree mark around Middle Georgia. It will be as breezy as any day of the week so far, however. A few clouds are likely Friday however the weekend will see more of those return along with some rain chances.
Model guidance suggests there could be moisture from the gulf that moves into the region from the south over the weekend. Other guidance suggest moisture could come from the Atlantic early next week. Both of these forecasts are subject to change.
The Tropics
Imelda and Humberto are luckily both going to stay out to sea. However, as mentioned above other tropical moisture leading into the weekend/early next week could bring more rain to the Peach State.
