Sunshine returns Friday and will stick around through the weekend

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Sunny skies will return Friday following Thursday’s cold front, and high pressure will keep the sun around through the weekend.

This Evening

A cloudy and misty afternoon will slowly work to clear out through the late evening and overnight. It will be a chillier night around Middle Georgia as lows across the region should drop below 50 degrees. There will also be a full moon tonight, the Full Beaver Moon. The Moon will likely be more visible tomorrow night when skies are clear, however. Overnight winds tonight will flow from the north-northwest at 5-10 mph, gusting as high as 15 mph.

Tomorrow

A sunny day is expected Friday along with some chilly breezes. Highs will reach the upper 60s for most of the region, however wind chills may remain in the low to mid 60s courtesy of 5-10 mph wind from the north.

Overnight skies will be clear and anyone that could not see the Full Beaver Moon Thursday night will be able to this time around. Low temperatures will drop into the lower 40s, or around average for this time of year. Wind will flow from the north-northeast at 5-10 mph.

This Weekend

Sunny skies will stick around both Saturday and Sunday with highs Saturday expected to hover around 70 degrees and highs on Sunday more towards the low to mid 70s. High pressure will keep the wind light and variable, however it will ultimately be out of the south heading into Sunday night. Lows overnight for Saturday will be in the lower 40s while Sunday night they will warm into the mid to upper 40s.

The Tropics

Tropical Storm Sara has formed and is expected to move west into the Yucatan Peninsula in the coming days. It will emerge in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico early next week, likely in pretty rough shape.
