Summer reading program to give away more than $5,000

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A summer program is giving kids the chance to cash in on their reading habits.

The Middle Georgia Regional Library System is participating in the Path2College summer reading sweepstakes. Washington Memorial Library kicked off the “Every Hero Has a Story Sweepstakes” Saturday.

The executive director of the college saving plan says Georgia will be divided into five regions to select a winner.

“One child in the state of Georgia is going to win $5,129 come September and the library that they participated in the summer reading program will win $1,529,” says the Executive Director of Path2College, Mitch Seabaugh.

He added the winners in the other four regions will get a consolation prize of $1,529 and their library will get $529.

Path2College has partnered with the Georgia Library System for five years and has given away more than $55,000 for college savings and to support libraries.
