MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The powerful cold front responsible for severe storms this morning will drop temperatures below freezing by tomorrow morning.

This Evening and Overnight

Temperatures are already dropping around Middle Georgia thanks to powerful northwesterly winds. Gusts will largely continue to range from 20-30 mph throughout the evening and into tonight. A Wind Advisory is in effect until 2:00 AM EDT early tomorrow morning. There is also a Freeze Warning in effect for the whole region until 10:00 AM tomorrow. Low temperatures will be in the upper 20s and lower 30s to get Tuesday started.

The sunshine will be back for Tuesday but it likely won’t help much with making it feel warm outside. High temperatures will largely be just above 50 degrees around the region. The wind will flow from the northwest at 7-12 mph with gusts likely to range from 15-20 mph.

Overnight will be mostly clear and again quite cold with most spots again dropping into the upper 20s. It may be a good idea for some Middle Georgians to drip their faucets as some spots could get into the mid 20s. The wind will be a lot lighter out of the north.

Wednesday and Beyond

More cloud cover will return on Wednesday with a chance for some light rain. Temperatures should reach into the mid to upper 50s accompanied by light wind from the east-northeast. A more pronounced warmup is likely over the back half of the week and into the weekend. Aside from a few showers Wednesday rain odds will remain very low in the near future.
