Students shop with cops for school supplies

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – About 100 kids received free school supplies thanks to the Fraternal Order of Police.

The organization held its annual Back to School “Shop with Law Enforcement” event Monday night at the Wal-Mart on Harrison Road. The students picked out their own clothing and everything the will need to have a successful school year.

“Every one of them has a big smile on their face when they leave and that’s what we do it for, to make sure they get what they need,” Danny Thigpen, the president of the Fraternal Order of Police said.

Thigpen says the organization is able to host events like this because of generous donations from people all across Middle Georgia.

There will be another Back to School “Shop with Law Enforcement” event Tuesday night in Perry.
