MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Temperatures are expected to reach the upper 90s and low triple digits Tuesday afternoon, however storms could help some spots cool down.

A partly cloudy afternoon has already seen some decent storm activity around Middle Georgia. More isolated to scattered storms and showers will remain possible through the evening and into tonight. Nothing severe is expected though a few strong winds will be possible. Overnight expect partly cloudy skies with lows in the mid 70s for most of the region. Wind will be light from the northwest around 5 mph. A stray shower or two will be possible early on.

Tomorrow

There should be a decent amount of sunshine early in the day before clouds take over more in the afternoon and evening. Highs are expected in the upper 90s and lower triple digits, however rain could prevent a few spots from reaching those highs depending on timing. Wind will be light out of the north.

A number of storms will be possible over the back half of the day thanks to a weak cold front. A Level 1 “Marginal” risk for severe storms includes all of Middle Georgia for tomorrow afternoon/evening. This is to account for the possibility of a few strong wind gusts with any organized storms.

Overnight will be mostly cloudy with some storms still ongoing, even past midnight. Lows are expected in the low to mid 70s accompanied by light wind from the northeast.

Wednesday and Beyond

Temperatures will not be as hot beginning Wednesday thanks to the weak cold front bringing Tuesday’s storms. That said, storm odds will remain high Wednesday and beyond and more cloud cover is expected around the region. This new pattern will carry through the end of the week.
