MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A handful of storms will be possible Friday afternoon and evening around Middle Georgia.

This Evening

A partly sunny and hot afternoon will become a mostly clear and warm night as the wind flows lightly out of the southeast around 5 mph. Some fog could be possible by sunrise Friday morning along with a few low level clouds. Temperatures will valley in the low to mid 70s around the region.

Tomorrow

The final day of the work week will likely be the hottest as temperatures push into the upper 90s for a good chunk of the region. While no Heat Advisories have been issued yet this week the possibility for parts of the region to be included in one the next few days are still there. Close to half of Middle Georgia could see storms Friday afternoon and evening. Severe weather is not expected although the most intense storms may have gusts over 40 mph. The ambient wind will be light out of the east-southeast.

Overnight will be partly cloudy with temperatures dropping into the low to mid 70s. A shower or storm may linger early on. The wind will be light out of the south-southwest around 5 mph. Some fog or low level cloud cover will be possible during the sunrise on Saturday.

This Weekend and Beyond

Rain odds are expected to drop again a bit on Saturday before climbing again Sunday evening and into Labor Day on Monday. The heat will persist as Sunday is currently expected to be the hottest day of this heat wave with some spots possibly flirting with triple digit highs. A cold front responsible for the increase in rain odds should drop temperatures and humidity into next week.
