Storm chances and temperatures climb further Friday

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Scattered storms are likely throughout the afternoon on Friday as temperatures climb back into the lower 90s across most of Middle Georgia.
This Evening
A mostly cloudy afternoon with a few showers and storms will become a partly cloudy and seasonal night. Rain odds should taper off by midnight with temperatures reaching their valleys in the upper 60s and lower 70s. The wind will be light from the south and patchy fog will be possible leading into the sunrise Friday morning.
Tomorrow
Friday will be a warmer day as most spots will reach the lower 90s for high temperatures as cloud cover increases through the afternoon. Scattered storms are likely beginning around lunchtime and continuing into the evening hours before slowing as the sun sets. Severe weather is not expected however the most intense storms may bring a bit of hail or a strong wind gust or two. The ambient wind will be a bit breezy from the south-southwest with gusts reaching around 17 mph.
Overnight will be mostly clear and a bit muggy with lows likely in the low to mid 70s across the region. The wind will be light from the southwest and some fog will again be possible (and more likely than Thursday night) during the early morning hours of Saturday.
This Weekend and Beyond
Partly cloudy skies are likely both days this weekend with close to half the region seeing thunderstorms and showers each afternoon. Temperatures will be pushing the mid to upper 90s with real feels reaching the upper 90s and triple digits. Those spending ample time outdoors should stay hydrated and reapply sunscreen of at least SPF 30 every couple of hours to stay protected. Breaks in the shade/AC are also a good idea for folk working in the heat.
Even hotter temperatures are likely heading into the start of next week with a heatwave likely rolling into Independence Day weekend.
