Steve Harvey holds camp for fatherless boys in Roberta
ROBERTA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – NBC’s national radio and TV show host Steve Harvey visited Roberta this past week for his 8th annual mentoring camp.
The camp is designed for fatherless boys to get a chance to learn how to be a man thanks to help from role models, such as athletes, business owners, and men in uniform.
“Responsibility, respect, the way you present yourself,” said camp attendee Jailan Richards from Chicago, Illinois. “The way you show yourself, because first appearances is everything, basically. And education is life.”
“I don’t care if you go to college, I don’t care if you if you go into the military, I don’t care if you go be a congressman, I don’t care if you open up an ice cream shop,” said Steve Harvey, who hosts a national talk show on weekdays. “What I do want you to do is be a great citizen, be a real man.”
Harvey’s foundation served around 200 boys this year.
